Ensuring your home is weathertight before insulating protects your investment.
External wall insulation is generally exempt from planning permission under Irish exempted development rules. However, there are exceptions: if your home is a protected structure, in an Architectural Conservation Area, is an apartment or duplex, or if the insulation changes the building line or exceeds certain thicknesses.
